What does being a “merdeka” country means?
What does being a “merdeka” citizen really means?
At this point, you would probably anticipate to read words coated with honey and sprinkled with sugar and laid with roses.
Does it mean that we have the tallest building, an international racing circuit, our “Proton” (national car) landed and can be driven on the south/north pole & super 1st class international airport?
KLCC doesn’t mean a thing. KLIA is just another expensive airport. Sepang Race Track is just for show most of the time.
And Proton..well no comment. MAS?
Being “merdeka” or independence is about the people. The progress of the people. Yes, much has changed. But the mindset is getting from bad to worse. Corrupt politicians begin to sounds more and more like pollutions, to the country.
What’s with the racist remarks, corruption, constant pumping cash(from the nations resources, including taxes) to “rescue” failing companies (which already lost money and now need more money to keep it losing money), stupid education system (that “educates” you to be a robot instead of thinking for yourself), inefficient public service (always late, always slow and always lost), and a whole lot of dreams.
First, there’s Vision 2020. That’s about another 12 more years to go. I wonder what is the progress for that. Anyone keeping tabs of it? And now, jeng jeng jeng, there’s Vision 2057? Vision 2020 hasn’t even been achieved and there’s Vision 2057. Great. Another bill for the nation. Oh well, we are a rich nation anyways. RM382 billion is just spare change for Malaysia.
What does it mean to be a Malaysian?
Eating nasi lemak/ char kuey teow/ chappati? Sit down at mamak till wee hours in the morning? Speak 2 to 5 languages?
Help each other regardless of race or religion or status?
Are you a Malaysian first, or are you a [insert race here] first?

Somehow, I have this weird feeling that those who have nothing better to do, who wish to score points politically, and burn more taxpayer dough, whose thinking is severely limited by that minute box which is their brains would define “respect” in that tiny cavity of air in their heads to find your wallpaper “disrespectful”.
