Were you one of those people?

Once again, Malaysia gets into the world news. On Saturday, the 10th of November 2007, BERSIH ( a coalition of political parties and NGOs demanding fair elections and electoral reform) organised a march, from dataran merdeka to the istana negara, to hand in a memorandum to the Agong, for a free & fair elections. About 40,00 people (estimates) turned up, however the local media reported only a fraction of that number(4,000).

If you do not read any other news other than the local media (The Star, NST, which are by the way controlled by the government) then you will probably get a shock of your life.

Heck, they(parlimentary members) even talked about the interview with Al Jazeera in the parlimentary meeting.

Why yellow? It is the Royal colour. It symbolizes the rakyat’s cries to our Agong for all of the pleas that falls to deaf ears. All the propaganda, lies, blatant corruption, discrimination & stupidity that we had to endure.
On another note, people in Thailand also likes to wear the colour yellow as they love their king very much.(However recently the Thai King started a trend of wearing pink instead.)

And no, I wasn’t there on the 10th of November. I was back in Melaka, still sleeping away, so yeah you may call me a hypocrite then. The color yellow is a show of support for the Agong, to push for a fair government. Start wearing yellow today!
